Soneva Fushi is the ultimate island hideaway, Robinson Crusoe style. Located in the stunning Baa Atoll, the Maldives' only UNESCO World Biosphere reserve, Soneva Fushi offers an amazing abundance of marine life. The resort has a natural deserted island theme, with lush vegetation and a jungle like feeling. Set on one of the largest islands, Soneva Fushi has stunning beaches, a fantastic house reef and multiple dining options all with a rustic, luxury island feel. The villas are all on land and designed to feel like your very own luxury tree house.
LOCATION: Baa Atoll
TRANSFER: 30 minute seaplane
What makes Soneva Fushi so special is the effort that has gone into the natural design of the resort. Stopping to relax on one of the deserted beaches, you'll find a chair carved out of a giant tree trunk. Even the library is built of natural timbers suspended in tree tops, accessed by a spiral stair case that twists around the outside.
Soneva Fushi's main philosophy 'No news, No Shoes' really says it all. You’re encouraged to unwind and feel the sand between your toes. Soneva Fushi doesn't have a main resort pool encouraging guests to embrace the stunning natural environment. Most villas do have private pools and the children’s club "The Den” has two.
This resort full of activities, even riding your bike to breakfast is an adventure. Soneva Fushi has a fantastic house reef for snorkelling, an outdoor cinema Cinema Paradiso screening movies after sundown and even the Maldives' only Observatory to gaze at planets and stars after dinner. The Den is the amazing children’s club on the island and is in our opinion one of the best in the Maldives. The Den has a pirate ship, two swimming pools, a Lego room, dress-up area, cinema, library, learning area and a music room full of instruments.
The service at Soneva Fushi is something that they are extremely proud of. You are allocated a Mr. or Ms. Friday who greets you upon arrival on the island and who will look after you for your entire stay. Nothing is too hard for your Mr. or Ms. Friday and they’re an amazing part of your Soneva Fushi experience.
For an island as spacious as Soneva Fushi, having only 70 private villas means that the majority of the island is yours to explore. With a natural Robinson Crusoe look and feel, the Villas are designed to be your very own luxury tree house and will surpass even your wildest dreams. Each villa has its own stretch of beautiful beach to enjoy and is surrounded by lush palm jungle, making them very private. Adding to this is the open-air bathroom which continues into your private garden with tables carved out of trees and a daybed decorated with brightly coloured cushions. Many of the villas have private pools that are a beautifully simple light blue, surrounded by white stones. For the avid snorkelers, we will book you a villa on the sunset side, and for those wanting absolute privacy, we will book you on the sunrise side of the island.
Soneva Fushi offers many dining options, with beautiful dining outlets, bars, in-villa dining and over 40 dining experiences all keeping with that castaway island feeling. The food is exceptional and they’re extremely proud of their extensive organic garden. They have invested a great deal into developing this organic garden that is first class and supports all of their restaurants. Soneva Fushi is a resort with a true conscience.
The main restaurant, Mihiree Mithaa (meaning ‘here it is’) has a glorious jungle feel with a natural sand based floor, white stucco walls and a gorgeous alfresco setting on the beach for breakfast. Mihiree Mithaa is exactly that, a beautiful restaurant set right on the beach. Down to Earth is a fantastic dining destination all about celebrating the sense of togetherness with loved ones by creating dishes designed for sharing.
Fresh in the Garden has to be one of the most amazing restaurants you’ll ever experience. Built in the canopy of tropical banana trees and accessed by a swinging bridge, you will dine under the stars or surrounding the chefs at their cooking station watching them prepare these gourmet meals. Sobah's Restaurant is a traditional Maldivian restaurant, 15 minutes by speedboat to an uninhabited island. This exclusive beach restaurant seats only 18 for dinner and includes an introduction to the beautiful star filled night sky from their resident astronomer. Definitely an experience of a lifetime.
Out of the Blue, is the centre of the dining area as it shares a seat area with the Chinese and Modern Japanese Kitchens, you can choose to sit on the open deck or undercover for a delicious lunch. The Wine Cellar is second to none with over 7,000 bottles to select from and there are also tastings throughout the week guided by their Sommelier. And not to forget So Cool, the complimentary chocolate room and ice-cream parlour – it’s delicious and we’re sure you will have many daily visits.
Soneva Fushi is one of the largest resort islands in the Maldives and with soft white sandy beaches and an iridescent aqua lagoon it’s yours to explore. In a very deserted island way, there are two huge beaches at different ends of the island with no villas around. Soneva Fushi is full of activities that you are encouraged to enjoy including a fantastic house reef for snorkelling. Soneva Fushi’s outdoor cinema with cushioned lounges, Cinema Paradiso screens movies after sundown. After dinner one night make sure you visit the Maldives only Observatory with a high powered telescope to gaze at stars and planets.
Soneva Fushi is one of the best islands for families with so many activities on offer including an amazing children’s club The Den. Open 10am to 5pm daily, there’s plenty of time to visit the outdoor pirate ship, the swimming pools and play Lego or dress-up. There’s also a cinema, a library, learning area and musical instruments. The Den has an extensive holiday programme with each day themed full of different and amazingly planned events that you children will love. And on some evenings The Den even hosts fun activities like a movie under the stars, Storytime and shadow puppets, a stargazing workshop and a beach party.
Your Mr/Ms Friday is there to assist in any way that they can. If you want to give your kids a life lesson without them knowing, Soneva Fushi can arrange a tour of their environmentally ground-breaking Eco Centro recycling centre. It’s amazing what they have done on a remote island in the middle of the Indian Ocean.
