Inside The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort | Our First-Hand Experience | Extraordinary Escapes

Breakfast is one of our favourite times of the day. We cycle through the beautifully landscaped island, passing swaying palms and pristine beaches before arriving at the resort’s elegant breakfast restaurant. Fresh tropical fruit, beautifully prepared à la carte dishes and exceptional service create the perfect start to the morning, while the relaxed atmosphere encourages you to slow down and simply enjoy your surroundings.

After breakfast, we spend the morning exploring the island before slipping into the crystal-clear lagoon from the beautiful house reef. Colourful reef fish, healthy coral formations and the occasional turtle make snorkelling here a wonderful experience, and having this marine world just steps from your villa is one of the many reasons we enjoy returning to The St. Regis.

One of the resort’s most remarkable features is its architecture. Every element has been inspired by the Maldives itself. The iconic Whale Bar is a masterpiece of design, inspired by the graceful form of a whale shark and creating one of the most spectacular settings in the Maldives for an afternoon cocktail. The overwater villas are designed to reflect elegant manta rays gliding across the lagoon, while the beach villas draw inspiration from traditional Maldivian fishing dhonis. Even the beautiful Iridium Spa has been thoughtfully designed in the shape of a lobster, with each treatment room extending from its own arm over the lagoon. It is architecture that feels artistic, meaningful and unmistakably Maldivian.

This afternoon we have treatments booked at the Iridium Spa. Before our massage, we spend time enjoying the Blue Hole hydrotherapy pool, allowing ourselves to completely unwind before moving into one of the beautifully designed overwater treatment villas. It is another reminder that wellness here is not simply about the treatment itself, but about creating an experience that encourages complete relaxation.

As we explore the island throughout the day, we are reminded how well The St. Regis caters for families as well as couples. The children’s facilities are amongst the finest in the Maldives, while older children and teenagers have dedicated indoor and outdoor spaces where they can enjoy their own independence. It is one of the reasons we confidently recommend the resort for multi-generational family holidays.

As sunset approaches, we make our way to the iconic Whale Bar. Watching the changing colours of the sky reflected across the Indian Ocean while enjoying a perfectly prepared cocktail is one of those unforgettable Maldives moments that stays with you long after you return home.

This evening we are dining at Orientale, one of our favourite restaurants at the resort. Beautifully themed and overlooking the ocean, it offers an exceptional Asian dining experience where every course is presented with the same refinement that defines The St. Regis. The cuisine is outstanding, the service warm yet discreet, and the atmosphere perfectly complements another memorable evening in paradise.

Every day at The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort feels effortlessly elegant. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, from the architecture and landscaping to the dining, service and guest experience. It is a resort that quietly delivers excellence without ever feeling ostentatious.
